Oave is a wellness and acoustic personalization tool, NOT a medical device.

1. No Medical Claims or Treatment

Oave is a wellness app that provides personalized sound masking, tone overlays, ambient soundscapes, and relaxation tools (such as breathing and grounding exercises). You can tune the sound to your own tinnitus sound profile.

  • Oave does NOT treat, cure, diagnose, or prevent tinnitus or any other physiological, medical, or psychological condition.
  • The features in this app are intended for general wellness and relaxation. They are not therapy, and they do not address or resolve the underlying physical causes of tinnitus.

2. Not a Substitute for Professional Medical Advice

The information, audio configurations, and self-reported wellness check-ins provided within Oave do not constitute medical advice.

  • Do NOT use Oave as a reason to delay, bypass, or avoid seeking professional medical evaluation or care.
  • If you experience a sudden onset of ringing in your ears, asymmetrical tinnitus (ringing in only one ear), severe hearing loss, dizziness, vertigo, ear pain, or discharge, you must immediately consult a qualified healthcare professional, such as an otolaryngologist (ENT specialist) or a certified audiologist. Tinnitus can be a symptom of a serious underlying medical condition that requires clinical diagnosis and targeted treatment.

3. Hearing Safety and Headphone Usage Guidelines

Because Oave synthesizes and plays custom audio frequencies directly via your mobile device, strict adherence to hearing safety is required to prevent further ear strain or hearing damage:

  • Start Low: Always turn your device's volume to a low, conservative setting before starting any sound masker or calibration step, then adjust upward gradually.
  • Avoid High Volumes: Never listen to Oave at uncomfortable, painful, or high volume levels. Sound masking should ideally sit just below or blend with the volume of your tinnitus (partial masking) rather than completely overpowering it at high decibels.
  • Take Mandatory Breaks: Continuous exposure to sound can cause auditory fatigue. Take regular listening breaks throughout the day.
  • In-Ear Headphone Warning: Use caution when using in-ear headphones (earbuds), as they direct acoustic pressure closer to the eardrum. Avoid prolonged high-volume use with these types of devices, as it may exacerbate tinnitus symptoms or cause permanent hearing loss.
  • Situational Awareness: Do NOT use Oave or listen to noise maskers while driving, operating heavy machinery, or engaging in any activity where ambient hearing is essential for your personal safety or the safety of others.

4. Assumption of Risk

You explicitly acknowledge and agree that you use Oave at your own risk. fovoxo OÜ provides no warranties regarding health outcomes or symptom reduction. If you experience an escalation of your tinnitus, headaches, ear pain, or any physical discomfort while using the application, discontinue use immediately and seek professional medical guidance.
